AFTERCARE:

An important part of ear piercing is careful aftercare.  You will be given a bottle of Ear Care Antiseptic solution to use for your newly pierced ears.

Always clean your hands thoroughly with an antibacterial soap. Rinse thoroughly before having any contact with your newly pierced ears.

Three times daily, cleanse the front and back of your ears by liberally applying the Ear Care Antiseptic solution with a clean saturated cotton ball or cotton swab, without removing the ear piercing earrings. When cleaning, in order to get the solution inside the pierced area, gently slide the ear piercing earrings back and forth so the solution can go inside.  Lastly, gently rotate the ear piercing earrings a partial turn, both clockwise and counter-clockwise two to three times.

Do not unnecessarily remove or handle your ear-piercing earrings.

Do not unnecessarily handle your newly pierced ears.

Keep your hair away from your newly pierced ears.

You should leave the ear piercing earrings in your ear for at least 6 weeks.  After 6 weeks, the ear piercing earrings can be removed.  You can then insert other post style earrings.  Post style earrings must be worn at all times for the next 6 months so that your ear piercing will remain the proper size.

Be careful when you are putting on or removing clothing, brushing your hair, sleeping, talking on the phone or using headphones or headsets.  Be careful not to irritate your newly pierced ears.

It is best to keep hairspray, soap, shampoo, cosmetics, perfumes and other similar preparations away from your newly pierced ears.  Cleanse your ears with the Ear Care Antiseptic solution if these products have come in contact with your newly pierced ears.

After shampooing your hair, exercising, swimming, or similar activities, it's best to cleanse your ears with the Ear Care Antiseptic solution.

Every time you are cleaning the ear piercing area, check for any signs of embedding, swelling, infection, discharge and/or redness.   Should any of these conditions appear, immediately consult your physician. Be aware of an embedded piercing.  It will look as though the earring is disappearing into the ear.  The surrounding area is swollen.

Pain, redness or swelling that exists for more than 24 hours after ear piercing is NOT a normal result of ear piercing. If you have persistent or reoccurring redness, swelling or infection, it may indicate that your body cannot tolerate a foreign object in the skin.  You may be having an allergic reaction.  You may be unable to wear pierced earrings.  Consult your physician.
