Our Repair Department
Here at Dems we pride ourselves on expert repairs of all types. We provide the following services; jewelry repair, watch repair, pearl stringing, engraving, ear piercing, and custom design.
We use the latest in technology including Hydrogen torches, and a LaserStar Welder featured on the left side of this page. A Laser Welder provides a means of welding where traditional torches can't be used. Additionally, the welder makes a much more secure bond than the traditional soldering methods. Laser welders are a must for repairing the latest designs, and most designer jewelry manufacturers also have these machines in house. These machines are very expensive but not nearly as precious as your jewelry is to you.
For those interested, here is some info about our Laser Welder:
LASER is an acronym for "Light Amplification by the Stimulated Emission of Radiation" which produces a sharp, focused light beam that melts a very small area of metal. The benefit of this technology is that very little heat is generated at the weld point, allowing users to easily weld .5 to 1.0mm (.020" - .040") away from the most complicated and intricate component parts without damaging heat sensitive materials.
Operators hold parts in their hands while viewing the application through a stereo-microscope in the welding chamber. Internal cross-hair allows the operator to easily align and weld the parts at the correct location.
